But once you have opened that café, will your employees utilize it? Corporate Dining Inc. believes that by offering a menu based on the current successful trends in the local market, participation at the workplace level will grow.
We believe that our stiffest competition is not from other at-work foodservice providers, but rather the quick service burger and chicken places, the casual franchise restaurants, the fast grill eateries which are located conveniently nearby.
We monitor where employees are spending their dollars on the outside. We then go one step further by developing menu items for our cafes which are similar to the most popular concepts. We have our own original concepts as well; our most successful programs combine the two. Our goal is to stay with the curve and offer continual flexibility, on the cutting edge of what employees want at midday. If wrap sandwiches are hot one season, then cool off the next, why should your employee café continue to offer them? If your workers won’t buy them at the nearby “Wraperie,” they won’t want them from the in-house café either, no matter how much time and good ingredients are placed into them.

Of course, in-house catering has the same set of criteria, complicated by the fact that a delivered lunch for 20 must be on time, and customized for the group. CDC chef/managers are trained in all of those factors.
Our Catering Order SmartForm takes all of the hassles out of making selections for that special event. Once the administrative assistant or other authorized person decides on a food order, a computer-generated form can be called up. The order is entered, and the pricing is immediately, automatically calculated. The programmed form allows the one who is ordering to immediately know the total cost to that department, with tax included.
Sent to the kitchen, that order is then processed by the chef/manager and prepared for the time and location listed on the form.
